Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology Taping

What is Kinesiology Tape?
Kinesiology tape is an elastic tape designed to support the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system. Its aim is to reduce pain, inflammation and fatigue. Kinesiology tape allows for full range of movement whilst supporting and stabilising weakened areas of the soft tissues.

When the soft tissues are injured or sustain issue due to over compensatory muscular patterns, orthopaedic conditions or muscular trauma, lymphatic fluid builds up causing inflammation, swelling and pain. This accumulation of lymphatic fluid causes the soft tissues to compress together and no longer slide and glide causing discomfort and pain.

Kinesiology tape can help to lift the skin and therefore decompress the superficial and deeper layers of fascia allowing for better lymph and blood flow. It can also have a neurosensory effect that improves the communication between the body and mind and visa versa, therefore increasing proprioception.

Please note your dog may not be suitable for Kinesiology Taping, this will be discussed with you at the time of treatment.

Canine Rebalance only uses H20 Rock Tape. Kinesiology taping is only applied once therapy has finished, so that soft tissues are taped in their released state, to maximise and support the bodies healing process. You will often see professional sports people wearing Kinesiology tape to support their muscular system.
